We all know that the government failed to protect its citizens from mass atrocities during the 2007/2008 post-election violence. The government, we have heard, compensated and/or rebuilt the houses of many who were displaced. This is as it should be; the government should act publicly and appropriately to provide redress for survivors of human rights violations.
