Komesha FGM Sasa! is a three year programme led by UNFPA Kenya and funded by the European Union. In Kenya, the project focuses on strengthening community-led mechanisms for FGM prevention and response, increasing access to locally based support services, and enhancing the skills of frontline actors to advocate, manage cases, and drive social change.
Anchored on the output: “Improved availability and access to psychosocial support, protection, prevention, and response services related to FGM”, COVAW aims to ensure that communities in these counties have better access to quality psychosocial support and protection services.
To achieve this, COVAW is working to enhance the capacity of community responders and healthcare workers to provide basic Psychological First Aid (PFA) in line with existing standards and protocols as well as build the capacity of CSOs, healthcare workers, grassroots survivor networks, and program staff with advanced skills in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) standards and protocols, enabling effective service delivery and provision of MHPSS to frontline activists and service providers.
