Amplifying the Voices of Survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence with Intellectual Disabilities to Inform Policies and Interventions

Period: February 2019 to April 2023 and May to October 2025

The project focused on amplifying the voices of women with intellectual disabilities who are survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence. This was achieved through:

1. Enhancing public knowledge and awareness on the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities in relation to SGBV.
2. Providing court representation and psychosocial care to survivors.
3. Advocating for inclusive legal and policy frameworks using evidence from legal clinics and court processes.
4. Strengthening the capacity of criminal justice actors to respond appropriately to SGBV cases involving intellectually challenged women and girls
