Court Proceedings Update of The Public Interest Litigation Case on Sexual Gender Based Violence Victims During The 2007/8 Post Election Violence

The public Interest litigation case which seeks justice for sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) victims of the 2007/2008 post-election violence (PEV) has lined its first witness before the High Court of Kenya. Patricia Nyaundi, a secretariat for the Kenyan National Commission on Human Rights, ably examined by lawyer  Kethi Kilonzo, talked the court through the prevalence of SGBV during the PEV and the government’s poor response in treatment of victims both during the PEV and in the years that followed.
